Hello, everyone. 👋🏻
I want to thank you for supporting Consuming Ourselves throughout its short run. This newsletter started as a way for me to explore situations, narratives and practices surrounding food and eating that I find troubling, things I believe Christians should be talking about and addressing in their own lives—but many aren’t.
I took a hiatus at the end of November mainly because, even though I feel these were important pieces to write, they were taking much longer than I expected and were rather draining both emotionally and mentally.
That step back gave me time to think about what I wanted to accomplish with Consuming Ourselves, and I believe I reached that goal with the pieces I wrote. Although there’s much more I could talk about—cultured meat, body stewardship, food access—I hit the main points during my time writing this newsletter.
As a next step, I’d like to put these posts together as a collection of essays on food and the food system from a Christian perspective and release it as an ebook. These are messages I think need to be out in the world, and publishing an ebook would move them beyond Substack for anyone who also thinks about these issues—or doesn’t and needs to.
Is that something you’d be interested in? The price would be around $7 for all 10 essays (edited and updated as needed), plus a brief intro and conclusion.
…or hit “reply” to let me know.
Either way, I’m happy to have gone on this journey with you. Thanks again for your support, and God bless! 🙏🏻
Brava! Happy to support your E-book when the time come!
